Bold Spaces Launch at Merosa Academy and System Education Academy in Kubwa, Abuja.
– Empowering Girls on Adolescent Health Week and International Day of the Girl Child
In recognition of Adolescent Health Week and the International Day of the Girl Child, we are excited to share the highlights from the launch of our Bold Spaces initiative, which took place at Merosa Academy and System Education Academy in Kubwa, Abuja.
Event Overview:
On October 11, 2024, we reached 72 girls across two schools, offering a combination of educational and interactive activities designed to empower them to make informed decisions about their sexual health.
At Merosa Academy, the girls participated in engaging sessions where we covered topics such as sexual grooming, identifying sexual predators, and recognizing “blessers.” The session was not only educational but also fun, with a fashion parade, dance, and games to ensure the girls felt comfortable while absorbing critical information. By the end of the event, all 40 girls received copies of our comic book on sexual grooming, developed in collaboration with AMAZE International and Advocates for Youth.
At System Education Academy, we focused on how to identify potential threats and the importance of setting personal boundaries. The 32 girls in attendance received similar comic book materials to further reinforce the session’s key lessons.
We are thrilled to report that both schools responded positively to the initiative, with students demonstrating a greater understanding of how to identify and avoid harmful situations. The distribution of 72 comic books across both schools ensures that the lessons learned will continue to be a resource for these young girls as they navigate their adolescence.

This launch is only the beginning of our efforts to create Bold Spaces for girls across the country. We look forward to continuing these vital conversations, expanding the program to reach even more girls, and fostering an environment where they feel empowered and informed about their health and rights.
