The Smile Outreach Launches “The Good Cycle Northern Nigeria” With Fab Treasure Foundation
Partnership Announcement!
To tackle absenteeism among school girls due to inaccessibility to menstrual products, reducing period poverty, eliminating sexual grooming and cross-generational sexual relations in Nigeria, The Smile Outreach Foundation is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with FAB Treasure Foundation to launch “The Good Cycle Northern Nigeria”.
The Good Cycle Initiative is a comprehensive project to promote awareness, facilitate education, and foster empowerment regarding menstrual health and hygiene. With a focus on tackling period poverty, sexual grooming and cross-generational sexual relations by establishing pad stations at schools, IDP camps, and prisons.
With the establishment of pad stations in these locations, girls and women will consistently have access to menstrual products. These pad stations will also serve as landmarks for sensitization and a place of learning on menstrual health and hygiene education. Beneficiaries will also be able to acquire the right information and necessary guidance for their menstruation.
By leveraging the strengths and expertise of both organisations, the partnership aims to:
Promote awareness
Facilitate education, and foster empowerment
Break the cycle of stigma and barriers to menstrual health and hygiene, by providing uninterrupted access to menstrual products to girls and women in Northern Nigeria.
We are thrilled to partner with FAB Treasures Foundation on this ground breaking initiative,” said Bidemi Adedire , Founder of The Smile Outreach. “This collaboration represents a significant step towards our commitment to fighting period poverty, advocating for menstrual equity and tackling cross generational sexual relationships in Nigeria. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of women and girls especially in the rural communities.”
“I believe that every woman and girl deserves to manage her menstruation with dignity. This partnership with The Smile Outreach Foundation is a crucial step towards ending period poverty and breaking the stigma around menstruation. Together, we are committed to creating a future where menstrual health is a right, not a privilege - Festus Abigail, Founder FAB Treasures Foundation.
The Good Cycle Northern Nigeria is set to commence on Menstrual hygiene day, May 28th with the activation of pad stations in 2 IDP camps in Abuja, Nigeria; Apo Malaysia IDP Camp and Wassa IDP camp. This inaugural event is sponsored by No One Behind Foundation and SWAG Initiative.
